The SWORD Project- Free Bible Software

Wednesday, April 30th, 2003

Just discovered that there is free bible software available at The SWORD Project. As is usual they don’t have copyrighted texts like the NIV available but hey, the software is free. Maybe Zondervan will relent and let them have a pay for use module available.

The coolest person on the Adelaide Metro - NOT!!!!

Monday, April 28th, 2003

I just walked past the Adelaide Metro storefront in Currie St and on the window they had a slogan “Be the coolest person on the Adelaide Metro - get the get up and go ringtone” (featuring the jingle from their latest TV ads). All I can say is - get a better advertising agency guys otherwise you too can be the nerdiest person on the Adelaide Metro. I wonder if they make all their staff use this ringtone ?

The ad features people actually singing the jingle on a bus. Perhaps when the phone rings everyone is supposed to break into song:

All together now: “get up, get up and gooooooo”

Back From Wilpena

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2003

Just got back from a 4 day trip to Wilpena in the Flinders Ranges. We camped at the campground there (very dusty) and did the Mt Olhsen Bagge (sp?) walk on the Saturday and climbed St Mary’s Peak on Sunday. I have to say that St Mary’s was absolutely stunning, worth every drop of sweat to go from 540m up to 1171m at the top. The panoramic views from the top of Wilpena Pound, the ABC Range, the Heysen Range and the surrounding country were breathtaking. I’m hoping to put one or two photos up tomorrow. The walk back from St Mary’s on the inside track (we took the outside track on the way up) was not nearly as good. It was hot and rocky and dusty. I would recommend going out and back on the inside track to anyone doing this walk. Save the outside track for when you go to Oedowie (sp?) gorge.

The Advertiser: Motel manager stabbed to death [17apr03]

Thursday, April 17th, 2003

This is too close for comfort: The Advertiser: Motel manager stabbed to death [17apr03]. I come out of the office yesterday to go and get some stuff for my upcoming camping trip, turn right and there is that yellow police tape everywhere along with assorted news crews, police vehicles with flashing lights and rubbernecking sightseers. Seriously this was about 100m from where I work and the Boulevard Cafe which is right next door is a favorite of a lot of people in our office. Nasty.

Starawberry Ripe

Thursday, April 3rd, 2003

My brother’s views on Strawberry Ripe lead me to comment that Vanilla Coke Rulez! You can mess with history and get away with it. I’m gonna have to try a Strawberry Ripe now.

SA Sex Education

Thursday, April 3rd, 2003

The south Australian Government is about to introduce a pilot sex education program in 14 South Australian Schools. Parents are to be sent a letter indicating that the program will commence but offering no opportunity for parents to opt out. What parents are not told is that the program is designed with a particular world view in mind when it comes to homosexuality. It includes such things as role playing homosexual relationships.
