Just got back from a 4 day trip to Wilpena in the Flinders Ranges. We camped at the campground there (very dusty) and did the Mt Olhsen Bagge (sp?) walk on the Saturday and climbed St Mary’s Peak on Sunday. I have to say that St Mary’s was absolutely stunning, worth every drop of sweat to go from 540m up to 1171m at the top. The panoramic views from the top of Wilpena Pound, the ABC Range, the Heysen Range and the surrounding country were breathtaking. I’m hoping to put one or two photos up tomorrow. The walk back from St Mary’s on the inside track (we took the outside track on the way up) was not nearly as good. It was hot and rocky and dusty. I would recommend going out and back on the inside track to anyone doing this walk. Save the outside track for when you go to Oedowie (sp?) gorge.
