I was sitting in a meeting this morning, which was only averagely boring , when one of my managers stated that he was “reasonably passionate” about something. As I thought about this statement it dawned on me that this was really an oxymoron. To be passionate about something (or someone) suggests unthinking extravagence that expresses itself in actions that are inherently unreasonable and spontaneous not in carefully thought out responses. This is not to say that passion is illogical, only that it has not had logic applied to it.
