The antidote to driving the best cars to nowhere

The Gap 2

As I’ve been going through my posts categorizing them for the new site some of them have caught my eye and I’ve thought to myself: “That is still good, did I really write that?”. One of the posts that has struck me that way was a post that I did back in 2004 entitled “The Gap”. It came to mind because of a conversation that a few of us were having at life group around the difference between where we know God has given us the victory and our expectations. The conversation arose out of a message that we watched tonight from T.D. Jakes on the last night of the Influencers Conference in 2004 where one of the things he said was that Satan tries to get us to settle for less than complete victory, to stop and be satisfied with only a little of what God has for us.
Again and again we let ourselves get sucked in by Satan’s lies that we can go so far and no further when in actual fact if we would just get mad enough and dissatisfied enough with failure that we could see the victory that God had planned for us all along. I know that I am guilty of this in a lot of areas in my life and more than for myself I want to see in the lives of my group the victories that God has for them. I want to stand with the people in my group in support of each of the members against the things that Satan is trying to use against each of them to stop people acheving what God has prepared for them. I want to cultivate that sense of anger and indignation at Satan’s attacks that won’t accept anything less than God’s best for each of them and myself.

God help me to stand against apathy, increase my dissatisfaction with the corruption of this fallen world and goad me on to the place that you have prepared for me and those around me in advance.
