City To Bay Run: A Bit faster Than Last Year

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

Last weekend I ran in the 36th annual City to Bay run along with 23,000 other people and the results have just been released today. I completed the 12km course from the city of Adelaide to Glenelg, which has the major benefit of being flat and ever so slightly downhill. Last year I managed to run the course in 1:13:20. This year I managed to break 6 minutes a kilometre and ran 1:10:26, a nice improvement. The only downer is that a work colleague managed to run a time about 40 seconds faster than me, incentive for next year I think.

Running Faster

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

Did a 5K run last night at fitness and managed to improve my time from 29:48 to 28:19, and all that without the Baton Assassin as my “motivation” :) . To put that in perspective the world record for the 5000m is 13 minutes flat so I’m not getting too cocky but still the improvement is nice.

Something about the cold, the rain, the darkness etc. At least we won. An embarassment of subs helped.

[Ultimate] New Season

Monday, October 24th, 2005

Well tonight marks the beginning of a new Ultimate season and the Masters of Spin have been cleft in twain, forked, split, partitioned I tell you. There are now 2 Masters of Spin teams and I’m not sure how that will work out. Come out and see us at 8:30 if you like. We will be in the south parklands just east of Goodwood Rd.

It was 2-0 then 2-1 then 4-2 then 6-3 then 8-4 at half time in favor of DiscIdiots. What was the final score line? 8-7 sigh

I’ve never lost … I’ve just been a bit behind when the time ran out

Thursday, August 11th, 2005

Well the score on Monday was 8 to 6 but we were on a comeback, honest. The Mojo Ninja’s played zone on us nearly all night but near the end they were too tired to do it effectively and we were gaining on them substantially.

I don’t know that I contributed that much. I had one of those nights where you feel like the Energizer Bunny is on the other team and your inferior quality battery just can’t cut it against the competition. I think it had something to do with the lack of sleep on the weekend :)
